Soy wax is a processed form of soybean oil. It is a soft, solid wax that is melted down and poured into containers to create a permanent, long-lasting candle.

2. Sand Wax: The Modern DIY Favorite

Also known as Pearl Wax, this consists of tiny, bead-like granules of wax. Instead of melting and pouring, you simply pour the "sand" into a vessel and insert a wick.

• Best For: Event decor, instant DIY projects, and "everlasting" candles.
• The Look: Granular, like fine white sand or tiny pearls.

Start using the candle a week after receiving it for best results. When lighting the candle for the first time, do not extinguish it before the surface layer of the candle has completely melted down to the edges, so that it melts to the same level every time.
